Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the care, safety, and support of students to and from school on the assigned route.
Responsible for the safe and appropriate operation of adaptive equipment assigned to the school bus and/or to any student assigned to the bus.

Driver only: Clear and valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Must be 18 years of age
Ability to read, write, speak and follow verbal and written instructions in English
Interest in the well being of children Good self control
Good physical health
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Insure that students on the bus are safe.
2. Provide necessary assistance to students as they board and depart the bus.
3. Provide support and instruction to help students understand and comply with bus safety rules.
4. Monitor students throughout the bus ride and address individual needs.
5. Communicate with the driver, school personnel and parents about student needs while on the bus.
6. Keep student attendance of ridership.
7. Implement individual student management programs as assigned by the Special Needs Transportation Coordinator.
8. Report student names to school personnel when bus arrives at school late.
9. Report all injuries and/or illnesses to school personnel occurring on the ride to school.
10. Report all injuries and/or illnesses to parents occurring on the ride home.
11. Report, in writing, dangerous or unsafe behavior to school personnel and/or parents when dangerous or unsafe behavior persists.
12. Keep assigned bus clean.
13. Operate all adaptive equipment on the bus as appropriate.
14. Provide rescue breathing and first aid as needed and directed.
15. Follow instructions and established procedures in the boarding, transporting, and departing of students in wheelchairs.
16. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Transportation Director and/or the Route Coordinator.
17. Complete pre-trip and post0trip inspections before and after each operation and submit work orders for needed repairs. 18. Must attend all district and departmental training as required.

Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors:
Lifts 10-50 pounds frequently, 50-100 pounds occasionally, more than 100 pounds infrequently with assistance.
Maintain emotional control under stress.
Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions.
Occasional walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying.
Work outside and inside; work around vehicles and machinery with moving parts; moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
May be exposed to body fluids and other contagions.
